Ideas in the Works

TradingWinner.com Updates

I am putting together some new articles and other ideas I think should really enhance TradingWinner.com.

The articles will cover trading and investing strategies including creating trading & investing plans.

A major feature will be stock price quotes and charts available for every stock.

I am thinking of setting up forums. Would anyone use them? I think the primary focus for forums would be for newcomers and beginners to ask questions. Is anyone interested in this?

I’m also putting a new design together and hopefully TradingWinner.com will have a fresh new design later this month.

  1. I wouldn’t start forums if it is only to facilitate questions. A better format for a questions section to supplement a blog would be similar to how Askeet run their entire site. Forums with their registration system and ugly design impose to much of a barrier to people participating.

  2. Hi Anthony,

Another alternate participation method I was thinking about is Notes.

You can see notes in action at 9rules.com on the right side. People can create new notes, post to other peoples notes, and interact in much the same way as commenting on a blog or posting to a forum. I think notes are extremely easy to use and I personally use notes more than a real forums posts.

With Notes, however, you do still need to be logged in or have your browser automatically log you in.

I’ll have to explore Askeet more and see if I can get any ideas from their forums and design.

  3. Hey Nick,
I am excited to see what you come up with. As you already know, I just implemented a forum on my site and the main thing I have noticed thus far is that it provides a great QUICK way to relay news/information. Stuff that I would not normally write an entire article about (such as Google taking ads to the newspapers now) is perfect to post quickly on the forum. It also promotes a reason for visitors to return to your site again and again.

Also, I will be interested to see who you go through for your stock quotes and such. I priced around a couple alternatives but they were all very expensive and thus I settled on making my own using the Yahoo API.
    Take care,
    Chad

  4. I’m also using Yahoo for data.

You can see some of my work in action at EnhancedCharts.com.

If anyone is interested, I have setup a testing evironment lab for the new TradingWinner.com site: lab.tradingwinner.com.

To see an example stock quote and chart page, check out GOOG @ Trading Winner Lab.

Let me know what you guys think of it! I’m looking for ways to improve the overall usability of the new site, the design, the layout of information, etc. Feedback really helps!

    Best Regards,
    Nick
