About OANDA

OANDA has been around since 1996. It began as a currency data company and was the first to publish exchange rates free of charge on the internet, then moved into online currency trading. It is now a global trading group with regulated entities in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Poland, Singapore, Australia and Japan. The US business, OANDA Corporation, is based in New York and is a member of the National Futures Association. The group was bought by FTMO, a Czech trading firm, in December 2025 and still trades under the OANDA name.

US clients can trade more than 68 currency pairs nearly 24 hours a day, five days a week, plus spot crypto such as Bitcoin, Ethereum and Litecoin through a partnership with Paxos. You can trade on OANDA's own web and mobile platforms, on MetaTrader 4 or directly from TradingView charts. Standard pricing is spread-only, with OANDA's charge built into the spread. Accounts with a $10,000 deposit can choose core pricing instead, with spreads from 0.0 pips plus a commission. High-volume traders can join the Elite Trader program for rebates of $5 to $17 per million traded.

OANDA's data business is what sets it apart. Its exchange rates API and Historical Currency Converter are widely used by companies and accountants, and traders get a REST API for building automated strategies. Outside the United States it also offers indices, commodities, metals and other markets, but US accounts are limited to forex and crypto.
